Toyota Leases Car to UCI’s National Fuel-Cell Research
In an effort to understand how hydrogen-powered cars can be more efficient, Toyota has leased a second car to UCI’s National Fuel-Cell Research Center.
This will be the second car the center leases from Toyota, the first being last December with a $10,000-a-month prototype. The money for UCI to lease the Toyota FCHV-4 fuel-cell hybrid cars are backed fully by corporate sponsors.
As concluded by testing, the vehicles have a maximum speed of 96 miles per hour. California is forcing auto companies to have at least 250 hydrogen fuel-cell cars on the road by 2008.
