Professor Lectures on the Mysteries of Human Memory
Thomas J. Carew, Donald Bren professor and chair of the department of neurobiology and behavior at UCI, will hold a lecture entitled ‘From Molecules to Memories: Lessons From a Simple Brain.’
This lecture will attempt to explain the science behind memories and reasons why some memories linger only a moment, while others last a lifetime.
The lecture is funded by the Allergan Foundation, an Irvine-based health care company that provides specialty pharmaceutical products and eye care. The event is hosted by the School of Biological Sciences.
Formal Dedication of UCI’s Croul Hall Receives $6 Million
The ceremony to dedicate the official opening of John V. Croul Hall at UCI will be held Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
John V. Croul is the co-chair of the Behr Process Corporation in Santa Ana, Calif. The Corona del Mar resident has personally donated $6 million for the new facility. This is the largest gift received by the physical sciences.The new facility will house office space for faculty, staff as well as for undergraduate and graduate students.
Ceremony speakers include earth system science alumni Jennifer King, Bryan Hannegan and Chancellor Ralph J. Cicerone.
