Being Thankful for Thanksgiving

It’s almost Thanksgiving and you know what that means?
Only one more month of shopping left before Christmas.
Well besides that, it’s one of our favorite holidays; a long weekend of football, food, drink and all of such consumed in massive quantities, followed by a day of big sales where people en masse run to the nearest shopping center and tear about like the bulls of Pamplona, running over anyone near them to find the best gifts and bargains.
What am I getting at with this cynical summation of the holiday?
Just that we don’t seem to realize how thankful we are for the simplest of things in this life.
A lot of us here at UCI are stock of immigrants
