Ian Hale McGrew (1982 – 2003) died on December 18, while riding in a car on his way to Northern California to be with his parents for Christmas.
Ian was the former president and current treasurer of the College Republicans at UCI. As president of the College Republicans, Ian was integral in bringing Arnold Schwarzenegger and David Horowitz to UCI. Ian was also a section editor with Irvine Review and writer for both Irvine Review and the New University.
Ian was a diligent student who almost always impressed his teachers with his writing ability and intelligence. He was set to graduate this year and planned on attending law school to become a lawyer and a judge.
Ian had become very involved with Newsong Church over the past year. During summer of 2003, Ian had gone on a mission trip to Guatemala and was planning to go on another trip, possibly to China.
A memorial service for Ian was held at Newsong Church on Sunday, January 11, 2004.
