Nick Hornby, author of ‘About a Boy’ and ‘High Fidelity,’ recently wooed me over yet again with ‘Songbook.’ Currently amidst midterms, new-job stress and the urge to speed to the beach, I find occasional evenings where I am lucky enough to settle into bed with ‘Songbook,’ Hornby’s musings on pop music.
‘Songbook’ is the soundtrack of Hornby’s life; each chapter is a different song on a mix tape he has cultivated through the years. His commentary describes songs as both the backdrop for his milestones and the foreground of his happiness.
