Many Mediums, One Ambition

Thursday, Nov. 4 marked the date of the opening reception of a new art exhibit for undergraduate students at UCI.
The exhibit took place at the University Art Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. Food and refreshments were served, and the funk band Mimensis provided live entertainment.
Consisting of various mediums of art ranging from oil paintings to bubble gum and cigarette smoke, the students showed various levels of raw talent and unique ideas.
Even the symbolic theme, ‘Ill-Suited for Birddom’ had a way of attracting those that attended the exhibit.
‘[The theme] is a metaphor for being kind of an outsider,’ said Steven Criqui, a gallery committee member and lecturer in painting at UCI. ‘[It is about] studio art majors that are alienated
