School of ICS Names Newest Bren Professor
Ramesh Jain, professor of embedded and experiential systems at Georgia Institute of Technology, was recently named Donald Bren Professor of ICS.
Jain earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Nagpur University in 1969 and his doctorate in electronics and communications engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in 1975. He has founded three companies and has been named fellow by various companies.
Jain is the 10th Donald Bren Professor, which was created by Bren’s gift of $20 million to the School of ICS. His appointment begins this month.
Social Science Student Becomes a Marshall Scholar
Brittany Schick, a UC Irvine political science and international studies major, is among this year’s 12 recipients of the George J. Mitchell Scholarship. The scholarship provides recipients with a year of post-graduate study at a university in Ireland or Northern Ireland.
Schick has worked in the Air Force in positions such as Vice Wing Commander and Flight Commander. She has also served as an intern in the office of Dennis Hastert, speaker of the House of Representatives. She will study international relations at Dublin City University and will pursue a future career in the Defense Intelligence Agency.
