Alumna Competes in Cultural Pageant

When most of us throw on a twopiece bathing suit, it’s usually with the hope that no one we run into will be ballsy enough to comment on how we look.
Not so for Michelle Pruna.
This past August, the recent UC Irvine alumna participated in the 20th annual Miss Asian America Pageant held in San Francisco, Calif. The Miss Asian America Pageant’s mission is to showcase the beauty of young women like Pruna, but more importantly, the Asian culture. It gives a glimpse of the diverse ethnic culture that exists in today’s society. The contestants are given the oppportunity to develop personal growth, leaderships skills, and friendships. The Miss Asian America Pageant has all the accoutrements of its bigger and more televised counterparts
