I’ve decided to go out on a limb here and admit something to everyone who cares to read it: I couldn’t wait for school to start.
I’m a freak, I know. I like being busy and having deadlines and studying, OK?
Don’t get me wrong, I fall asleep in class just as much as the next person, but I definitely appreciate the fact that school ‘forces’ us to gather together and make things happen.
Working on the paper is especially exciting for me, and I was eager for the year to start and contribute all I could to the paper.
As opinion editor last year, I failed to take full advantage of the position I had. I was still learning the ropes, as they say.
And learn I did.
In fact, it is semifunny when readers decide they now hate you because they know you have some sort of secret agenda you’re trying to push through the New University.
In reality, I was figuring myself out, just like most students here at UC Irvine.
I tried my best to print a variety of opinions on topics that would genuinely interest students, but it’s difficult when there are only so many students willing to write for the paper.
What bothered me the most was not the accusations
