I was in UCI's first graduating class and worked at the Spritzgarten as asst. manager. I lived with three guys on the Peninsula, was a history major, rode an old Royal Enfield hog, had a green Corvair van (of all things). I still have a great photo of several of the crew I hung out with...remember only my room mate Donovan Dorsey. I did concerts for UCI...our big one was Led Zepplin's 2d US appearance...near riot as the promoter printed several thousand of his own tickets. 5-6,000 people showed-up. I remember getting high with Robert Plant...hard to believe. We got ripped off by about $10K as I recall. We had a club soccer team and were pretty good with an English striker... beat USC! the teams would make a rowdy afternoon of it at the Spritzgarten. What great memories.
