Ethnic Clubs Hinder Immersion

‘Culture Clash’ was the title on the party flier handed out indiscriminately by the Multicultural Community Service Fraternities last week on Ring Road. While some ethnic-based clubs and organizations are making obvious efforts to include the UC Irvine community, others have discriminatory barriers to break down.
Concerning recruitment for the Indian Subcontinental Club, ‘They only hand out fliers to Indians,’ said third-year psychology and social behavior major Pooja Sachdeva. ‘They suck people in and then those people are only surrounded by Indians. It takes over who their friends are and who they hang out with.
