Heading into their final game of the season against the Cal State Northridge Matadors on Nov. 4, the UC Irvine men’s soccer team sat in first place in their conference after an impressive 2-0 shutout victory against the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos earlier in the week and had a chance to capture the Big West Title for the first time in UCI history, guaranteeing the team a spot in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
The Anteaters needed either a victory on the road over Northridge or a Santa Barbara loss against UC Riverside to clinch the Big West Title
