Local Bands Rock for Darfur

Bands featured at this year’s Antstock teamed up on Valentine’s Day this year to play a concert to raise money for a charity providing health care in Darfur.
The event was organized by UC Irvine’s Darfur Action Committee. Students on campus may have noticed the DAC playing dead on Ring Mall earlier this year in an effort to bring attention to the situation in Darfur, which the U.S. government recognizes as genocide.
This time around, the committee found bands that agreed to play for free and had some pizza donated as well. Tickets for the event sold for $10, and all the money went to the International Medical Corps, known for its efforts in Darfur.
