Women’s Water Polo Season Ends

After advancing to the quarterfinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship with a 13-12 win over Arizona State on Thursday, the UC Irvine women’s water polo team lost to top-ranked Stanford 17-5 on Friday afternoon.

Stanford jumped out to an early 7-0 lead and never looked back. UCI sophomore Julia Fancher and senior Jackie Prine scored two goals each in the loss.

UCI played in the consolation bracket on Saturday, losing to the San Diego State Aztecs in overtime 10-9. On Sunday the team played against Long Beach and beat the 49ers 15-10 to capture seventh place in the MPSF Championships. The team ends the season with a 19-13 overall record.
