The UC Irvine men’s volleyball team reached the pinnacle of success last week, capturing the school’s first-ever men’s volleyball NCAA National Championship after a convincing 3-1 win over Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne on Saturday, May 5.
The national title was UCI’s first in Division I competition since the men’s water polo team won the title back in 1989.
‘It’s been unbelievable,’ said junior Aaron Harrell. ‘We had to fight through every single playoff game to get here, but honestly, all the games we played made us ready to win this tournament.’
The win was a bittersweet moment for the team’s four seniors
