Success is nothing new to Anteaters star and senior second baseman Cody Cipriano.
Cipriano is not just a skillful baseball player who busted his tail to walk on to a Division I baseball program. Rather, he is more of the type who could have been recruited to play Division I college football. He’s just that talented.
At Westlake High School in Agoura, the accolades were seemingly endless for Cipriano: 2002 and 2003 League Player of the Year, Westlake High Athlete of the Year in 2003, inducted into the Ventura County Hall of Fame, winner of three league titles, hit .468 his senior year and, not to mention, was an all-league selection as a cornerback for the football team.
UCI welcomed Cipriano and his impressive credentials with open arms in 2004. To nobody’s surprise, he showed promise immediately, hitting .341 his freshman season. Just two seasons later, his first as a full-time starter, Cipriano captured the team’s Most Valuable Player award
