The UC Irvine women’s volleyball squad rebounded from a 3-0 loss to Long Beach state as they defeated Cal State Northridge 3-1 the following night.
Freshman sensation Kari Pestolesi continued her amazing debut season as she led UCI with 18 kills and three service aces versus the 49ers.
Trailing 27-19 in game one, the Anteaters put together a string of five straight points, closing the gap to three points. But the 49ers were able to shift the momentum by calling a timeout to halt the UCI scoring streak. Following the timeout, Long Beach capped off game one with consecutive service aces, putting them up 1-0.
In the ensuing game, the 49ers were in control early on as they opened up a 10-9 lead with three straight points
