UC Irvine’s Baseball Stars Excelling in Pro’s

Cody Cipriano – 2B (Tampa Bay Devil Rays Class A) – In 214 at-bats, Cipriano is hitting a respectable .271 with six home runs and 29 RBIs. His .381 on-base-percentage is an indication of his stellar strike zone judgment. Cipriano holds the single season home run record at UC Irvine with 14.

Taylor Holiday – OF (New York Yankees Class A) – Holiday is batting .290 and has 71 hits in 66 games. He also has stolen 16 bases. It has been speculated that he has cut the long, flowing blond hair rumored to be the reason for last year’s success.

Blair Erickson – P (Minnesota Twins Rookie League) – The NCAA career record holder in saves is a fire-baller in the minors. He finished with a 1.84 ERA and 11 saves in 18 games. He has only given up one home run and struck out 17 batters in 17.3 innings pitched. Blair seems to have begun harnessing his control
