At six feet and seven inches, senior Darren Fells is usually not the tallest man on the court, despite being a center. But, coming into the season as a fourth-year starter and having two All-Big West honorable mention team honors to his credit, the Anteaters knew a successful season would require Fells’ presence.
Over the summer offseason period, the Fullerton native mainly worked on his shot. ‘Coming into the season, I knew I had to be a more dominant post player, but with [defenders] sagging off me last year, I had to work on my three-point shot and my mid-range shot,’ Fells said. ‘I shot about 100 shots a day.’
Recently, the effort has paid off, as Fells has put up three double-doubles in his last four games, all against top teams in the Big West
