Sound the Whistle and Call a Time-Out

Winter break is in the past, class is in session, midterms are taking place and as a result, many students experience the familiar onset of stress and worry. No more sleeping in or staying out late, having class and homework everyday, working on your major, getting an internship, planning for your future … yikes. It’s easy to become overwhelmed, and you wouldn’t be the first student to flip out if you did. That’s why it’s important to steady yourself and prioritize, while making time for relaxation.
So switch off your iPod, close your laptop and take a couple minutes to simply relax. Here are some quick and easy tips for stress relief:

1. Practice deep breathing: Simple and effective. This will help you calm yourself and your state of mind. You can do this anytime and anywhere. Try it while sitting in your boring class, or while in traffic or while waiting to be called up for an appointment. Breathe from the abdomen instead of the chest
