The UC Irvine men’s basketball team defeated the Pacific Tigers 74-59 at home this past Thursday, Valentine’s Day. The victory extended the Anteaters’ unbeaten streak on campus to eight this season.
With the win, UCI improves to 11-13 record overall and a 6-5 record in Big West Conference games. The win was also significant for UCI Coach Pat Douglass who became the career-wins leader in UCI men’s basketball with his 164th victory.
The Anteaters looked to have a tough task in facing the 17-6 Pacific team. Shortly after tip off the Tigers seemed to be longer, faster and more athletic overall but fortunately for UCI none of those attributes directly led to points.
The Tigers’ active roster oddly enough featured no seniors. UCI had three seniors, all starters: guard Marcus McIntosh, forward Patrick Sanders and center Darren Fells
