For the second game in a row, UC Irvine waited until the final innings before its offense had the last say in the final score’s outcome.
Although the game was in fact a makeup game for Sunday’s series finale at Nevada, which was cancelled due to snow, Monday’s game marked the official season opener at Anteater Ballpark. The first six innings, however, provided virtually no excitement for UCI fans in their first glance at this year’s Anteaters.
Loyola Marymount University put two runs on the board in the first inning on a fielder’s choice and a passed ball. The Lions scored again in the third, this time on a wild pitch. Luckily for the Anteaters, the LMU pitchers were erratic all night
