Conservatives Caught between a Rock and a Summum Statue

Somewhere in Pioneer Park in Pleasant Grove, Utah is a stone statue of the Ten Commandments. The statue serves as a nice, aesthetic prop and does double duty as a monument to the Old Testament. People use it as a meeting place. Children play around it. Tourists snap photos of it, and why there would be tourists in Utah, I cannot say. All in all, it’s a pretty harmless object. But like everything else related to religion, it is there only through the group’s right to free speech. And like everything else related to religion, it has become the subject of controversy.
