Comrie and Misiaita Shine in Championships

Senior Dayne Comrie finished first place in the 400 meters Saturday.

Senior Dayne Comrie is putting the finishing touches on an outstanding collegiate track and field career, while sophomore Alisha Misiaita continues to write herself an impressive legacy. Comrie and Misiaita were two of several Anteaters to turn in stellar performances in the final day of the Big West Conference Track & Field Championships at Cal State Northridge.
Comrie won the 400 meters in 46.28 as he improved on his No. 3 time in UCI history. Earlier in the season he qualified for the NCAA West Regional in that event.
He finished third in the 200 meters in an NCAA regional-qualifying time of 21.17. It was the eighth-fastest time in UCI history. Comrie also ran legs on UCI’s second-place 4×400-meter relay and third-place 4×100 relay.
Sophomore Tim Murphy placed second in the 800 meters with a time of 1:51.89 while Kevin Palmer finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (15.01) and the 400-meter hurdles (53.96). Sky Johnston was seventh in the 5,000 meters (15:19.02).
Overall, the Anteater men finished fifth with 83 points as Long Beach State was first with 185.
In women’s competition, Misiaita won the shot put with a mark of 49-11 1⁄4 and came in second in the discus throw at 154-5, third-best mark in Anteater history.
Samantha Costantini finished seventh in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:40.41.
The women finished eighth with 42 points as Cal State Northridge scored 189 points to win its third straight title.
On Friday, the Anteaters men’s squad earned a trio of thrid place finishes. Sky Johnston finished third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:14.38. Nick Mosey was third in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:42.67 while Nick Nyberg placed third in the javelin throw with a mark of 188-11. His teammate James Lehigh was sixth at 173-11.
In women’s competition, UCI’s Kendall Bruton finished fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 10:51.93 as she improved on her No. 3-mark in Anteater history. Candice Proctor of UCI finished fourth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 36:58.00.
