The Anteaters finished with a 42-18 overall record after finishing their season in a super regional against LSU.
UCI has now made the playoffs 4 times in 7 years and improved it’s postseason record to 10-8 after going 0-4 in first two regional appearances.
The pitching staff logged 503 strikeouts this year for a school record.
The Anteater staff also compiled a 3.27 ERA which was 3rd lowest in the nation.
Sophomores Shined in the postseason with Casey Stevenson hitting .526, Jeff Cusick accumulating five doubles while driving in four and Sean Maddigan led the team with eight RBI hitting .429 (9 for 21)
Scott Gorgen ended his illustrious UCI career with the programs strikeout record and nine All-America awards. He finished with a 2.56 ERA, 32 wins and an overall winning percentage of .799.
Ben Orloff extended his games started streak to 155 after logging 60 straight starts this season.
Ollie Linton was 40 for 48 on the base-paths this season while batting .324 with a team-high 79 hits.
Ben Orloff and Bryce Stowell will return next season after being drafted in the 2008 MLB First-Year Player Draft.
