Get Excited for Midnight Magic

Lost in the hooplah of Shocktoberfest (Oct 16, 6 pm) is Midnight Magic, the official kickoff of UCI men’s and women’s basketball. The event celebrates the official starting date when NCAA basketball teams around the country are permitted to conduct official practices. It also means the season is less than  a month away.

Midnight Magic used to be its own event, until ASUCI decided to try and boost attendance by combining it with Shocktoberfest. In the past, there has been a dunk contest, three point shooting contest, and a pick-up game between the men and the women. Last year, Kobe Bryant made a personalized video appearance, and I have sources that say that he may be involved once again this year.

So while Shwayze and Gym Class Heroes may be the headliners, don’t be surprised if UCI basketball provides some excitement of their own.
