stop hating..start participating. We need to pimp out more Irvine stuff…I too am sick of people talking ish on my town. seriously its getting to be too much

Acrobatics Everyday is not going to be for everyone, some people are satisfied with the way things are and thats great for them, But for everyone else who is looking for something new, interesting, different and close to home Acrobatics Everyday is a great resource and I think Rebecca did a great job exposing it and I hope it can get even more support in the future.

you really should start fact checking. the glass house is in pomona, another 40 mile drive from irvine. in addition, many OC clubs are 21+.

for some reason you are evading the focus of acrobatics everyday, which is to bring touring (not local) artists with less mainstream fame/success to orange county. we pair these artists with local artists to create cheap (almost always $5) and not-for-profit concerts.

since you want to talk about venues with cheaper tickets with no-name bands, why dont you go to to the glass house in anaheim or the house blues? tickets there can go from 10 dollars and up. i suggest you stop bitching about how ‘far the drive is’ to go see bands. you want local stuff? find a club. i know for a fact that they do ‘locals only’ shows in orange county for cheap.

oh, and b, just in case you didn’t read the rest of the interview, bands like “the eagles, snoop dogg and the killers” charge $40+ for every show. they hardly count as accessible to young people on small budgets. a typical AE show costs $5, $10 at the most, and features bands who are not likely to be performing for money. the eagles and snoop dogg, i think at this point, are not exactly making music for the art.

your point about OC being approximately one hour away from LA and SD also proves rebecca’s point exactly. the hour drive away requires gas money and time (traffic). the key is to allow young people with limited transportation and funds to access intimate shows at affordable venues. not the ticketmaster/corporate-sponsored venues like the house of blues and verizon amphitheater you speak of.

the point is that AE performs a great service to UCI and caters to a demographic that is underserved in the county at large.

We could drive to Los Angeles, or maybe San Diego … but man, I just want to listen to some music, and I don’t want to go on an hour-to-two-hours-long trek.”

i am tired of everyone knocking on my hometown for what it lacks and how boring it is. irvine is not a boring place – its a place full of culture and community. you just have to dig deep enough to enjoy the the fruits of orange county.
i suppose you dont realize that we live right next to the irvine ampitheater which hosts many different artists of different genres including major bands like the eagles, snoop dogg and the killers or that we are within 20 miles of 2 different house of blues? yea, we are an hour away from the the Colosseum and the Viper Room in Hollywood? how about instead of judging orange county for being so small and having no outlets of music, and actually take the time to go around and site see all these other things. orange county isnt just ideal because of its whether or the proximity to the beautiful beaches, but the fact that we are approximately 1 hour away from 2 of largest entertainment capitals in the world – san diego and los angeles. so please, before you you talk about dull and boring irvine, or even orange county for that matter, do your research and dont complain that there isnt anything around here.
