i am the 1st anonymous user. i am specifically attacking the behavior and presentation of the messengers, not the message. you are not agreeing with any of my politics because i didnt say anything about them - but if you want to go there, lets start.

education, as in knowledge, is free. society does care about being charitable with knowledge. go to the library and/or on the internet and check it out.

a degree is a good that has a cost to it. these protests are fine but i will not differentiate the demand for the lower cost of a degree from the demands of any other good to be lower - whether it be safer neighborhoods, houses, health care, food, sugar, gasoline, marijuana, or whatever. i dont have any particular view that these goods are "deserved" by some but not others, demand whatever you want but stop thinking your needs are above everyone else's.

i'm speaking only a student here when i say that the state spends a lot of money to make this place one that can help people grow as human beings and that most students take maybe 5% advantage of this. it does not seem cost-efficient. people just complain that "irvine is boring".

Screw allowing them to watch safely through the streets. Give them a quick physics lesson on what happens when a car meets body. Maybe these malcontent humanities, arts, and social studies students might actually learn something useful.

Furthermore, I don't buy this BS about a student dropping out because of Cal Grant being cut. Has the fool ever heard about Staffords? Oh, snap, we can't actually expect someone to actually pay for their education, right?

I am in agreement with the above anonymous poster.

Education is a PRIVILEGE, not a right in the same sense that our basic freedoms are as given to us in the bill of rights. To succeed in America, education is necessary, but it is up to YOU to get it--it will not be given to you on a silver platter (i.e. for FREE). Fees need to be increased in response to the state's budget failures. If people want to protest something, go to Sacramento and protest there. Oh wait, is that too inconvenient for these "protesters"? Disrupting classes and making noise during peak hours achieves nothing but boosting egos

Is it really necessary to frame articles by using titles from 60s folk and reggae music? I mean, no one believes that the New U is at all un-biased (take your pick of administration's influence and right-wing editors), but come on, you're not even trying to be neutral. These titles would just seem silly at even a "hippy" school like Berkeley or Madison.

"total disruption" - what a joke.

most of these protesters are clown shoes.

the "right to education" (if there is such a thing) should mean that students and professors have the right to a peaceful workplace. protesters who come marching in, blocking lecture for 4-5 minutes, are elevating their causes above the causes of others. it is no different than going to wal-mart or mcdonalds to harass customers because of a disagreement with their prices or business policy.

how big of a tool bag does one have to be to actually leave class simply because a giant mob is chanting "walk-out"? if you had actual conviction in anything, you would already be part of the walk out.
