Much like most "columns" in this paper Amber's is lazy and self-centered. Use someone else to represent the whole--not you. Literary journalism does not permit free license for turning a newspaper into LiveJournal.

Please don't link juvenile diabetes (aka type 1) with obesity. It's an auto immune disorder and nothing to do with weight and diet (unlike type 2). Most kids with diabetes are type 1 so stop giving the impression this is some lazy fat kids health problem.

Inmate #0 - I'm pretty sure you have some issue to work out, and have completely missed the point of the column. You will be the old fart reading the daily rag, then writing a letter to the editor when the writers don't agree with your narrow minded, myiopic point of view. You're pathetic!

This is a column about a young women struggling to lose wieght, live life, manage in the world of academia if its not for you THEN DON'T READ IT, but keep your worthless comments to yourself!

Why the hell is this a column? Geez, if I wanted to hear someone's pedantic, banal, mundane and hypochondriacal rantings, I'd visit a hospice. Sure, the average UCI student is a boring and sheltered suburban nerd, but really...there's no need to celebrate it.

The NewU needs to screen its column writers a little better. The fact that a person is loud does not always mean they have something important to say.

yaa, it is absolutely right that that the fat kids were expected to grow out of their baby fat and if not, they would soon find solace on the internet.
