Eric Pettis failed to overcome his past demons, as the Anteaters failed to close out the game twice, ultimately succumbing to LSU in 11 innings, 11-10.

Just like two years ago in Baton Rouge, the Tigers appeared to be down and out, but strung together a two-out rally in the bottom of the 11th, with Trey Watkins lacing a two-run double to give LSU a walk-off win. Francis Larson starred for UCI, blasting two home runs, while Ryan Fisher added a homer and three total hits of his own. Anteater starter Daniel Bibona struggled in his first start in a month, giving up seven runs (five earned) in 4.1 innings.

UCI dispatched Kent State 19-9 on Saturday, eliminating the No. 4 seed Golden Flashes. The Anteaters will have to win three more games in a row to advance out of the regional. Next up is a match-up with the loser of the UCLA-LSU Saturday night game.
