UCI Breaks World Dodgeball Record
UC Irvine became the proud owners of the Guinness World Record for the largest game of dodgeball played on September 21, 2010. The dream of sophomore Sam Shaw, the world record previously held by the University of Alberta was broken when 1,745 Anteaters swarmed the Bren Events Center. After students celebrated the new tradition of [...]
The Need To Repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”
On the heels of Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker’s triumphant Aug. 4 decision to overturn Proposition 8 comes a setback in the fight for gay rights. Senate Republicans shot down the Democrats’ attempts to begin the debate on a defense authorization bill that would include repealing the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) military policy.

MSU Suspension Unjust
After coming out of the usual dizzying blur of Welcome Week activities, I have witnessed that despite the fact that the Muslim Student Union’s ability to organize on campus has been halted, the desire of Muslim students to contribute to their campus and community, to educate others about Islam and to provide various forms of [...]
Suspending MSU the Right Move for UCI

Unfortunately, a lot of the best restaurants [...]
Firing On All Cylinders

Penned and brought to life by Professor Robert Cohen and the help of volunteer actors and stage crews, the play-within-a-play is about a college group of American actors [...]
Dodgin’ Balls, Settin’ Records
Alex Yee | Staff Photographer
Last year, Sam Shaw had a dream to gather as many UCI students as possible for the biggest game of dodgeball ever. Last Wednesday, Sept. 22, that dream became a reality. Nearly 2,000 Anteaters came out to the Bren Events Center for the ASUCI sponsored Blue and Gold Rally, 1,745 of [...]
Laugh Your Worries Away
There is no doubt that we live in troubling times, where California has yet to pass a budget and where our state’s unemployment rate has recently jumped to 12.4 percent.
Our economy is bleak and every little sign that shows an improvement is immediately countered with an extremely dire statistic that proves otherwise. This is no [...]
