You’re probably raising your eyebrows, wondering how Japanese curry made the cut. Despite misconceptions made about the mystic sounding curry, Japanese curry is one of the most underrated dishes that people have allowed to fly under the radar. Some people love it, others hate it, but the bottom line is this dish is definitely something you must try once with an open mind.

The Hat is the home of the “World Famous Pastrami.” Thinly sliced pastrami is layered and stacked onto a soft French bread roll, topped with mustard and pickles. The pastrami is so thin and so soft that it makes you wonder how so much flavor can possibly be packed into these slices. This sandwich, which is served hot, is the largest advertised item on the menu: “Pastrami Dip $6.99″ is boldly written in large white font.

Where I ate: McCormick & Schmick’s, 2000 Main Street, Irvine. What I ate: 1/2 pound cheeseburger and fries, and an order of Haystack Onions. What it cost me: $1.95 for the cheeseburger and fries, $1.95 for Haystack Onions and $2.75 for a drink, plus tax.
