Barry Siegel will join the UC Irvine faculty this fall as director of the literary journalism program.
Before becoming a member of the UCI faculty, Siegel worked for 25 years as a national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times.
Siegel is widely recognized as a master of literary journalism, a branch of literature that uses the same literary techniques of fictional writing to portray nonfiction events. Ironically, he is a pioneer for a program that is making its debut in the UC system
