Jill Beck is Named President of Liberal Arts College
On Jan. 26, professor of dance and former dean of the Claire Trevor School of the Arts Jill Beck was named the president of Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis.
Beck will begin her tenure at Lawrence on July 1. She will be the 15th president of the university and the first woman president in the school, which has a 158-year history.
Beck served as the dean of the school from 1995-03 and currently is the director of ArtsBridge America. She has written on issues of interdisciplinary art education and was awarded the UC Irvine Medal in 2002, the university’s highest honor.
‘Sex Rules’ Will Tackle Sensitive Issues on Feb. 3
Maria Falzone, award winning comedienne, will take an entertaining and informative look at sensitive topics concerning positive sexuality, safer sex, abstinence and communication skills in ‘Sex Rules!’
‘Sex Rules!’ is presented by the UCI Center for Women and Men. The event will be held at Physical Sciences Lecture Hall 100 on Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Through education, advocacy and individual support, the Center for Women and Men’s mission is to promote gender equity, personal empowerment, mutually respectful relationships and the elimination of violence.
