Voters to Decide on $12.3 Billion Bond on March 2
Proposition 55, the Kindergarten-University Public Education Facilities Bond Act of 2004 addresses the problem of fixing old, outdated classrooms in the public school system by providing $12.3 billion for repairs.
On the March 2 ballot, the measure will be the second part of a two-part ‘repair package’ which includes Proposition 47 as the first half. If passed, the University of California will be granted $690 million for repairs, with $100 million allotted for capital projects at UCI.
Proposition 55 will also create thousands of jobs and add billions in local economic activities throughout California.
Suspects Arrested for Possession of Vehicle Emblems
Three people were arrested by Irvine police officers on Feb. 3 for possession of stolen property and vehicle tampering. Upon further investigation, the subjects were found in possession of over 100 emblems from a variety of vehicles.
The thefts that are now known to the police department occurred in the central, northern and western parts of Irvine.
Any victims of a vehicle emblem theft are asked to call Officer Patrick Ryan at the Irvine Police Department to report the crime to allow the officer to determine if the crime is associated with the suspects that have been arrested.
