Construction to Cause Delays on University Drive
The City of Irvine Public Works Department recently announced that it will be making improvements to the Jeffrey Road Bridge and I-405, San Diego Freeway Interchange.
This project will include widening the Jeffrey Road Bridge, widening the northbound and southbound off-ramps and on-ramps as well as signal and landscape upgrades.
Construction will begin on Feb. 28 and is estimated to continue until Nov. 2006. The project will require ramps to be closed, partial lane closures during the day and complete closures during the night throughout construction.

Bryant Elected to Association for Women in Science
The Association for Women in Science recently elected Susan Bryant, dean of UC Irvine’s School of Biological Sciences, as a 2005 AWIS fellow.
AWIS is a nonprofit organization that works to promote and recognize the needs and issues of women in science.
Three years after Bryant became dean in 2000, 44 percent of the recruited faculty is female, raising it from 22 percent when Bryant first arrived. AWIS recognized Bryant’s at a reception in Washington D.C. on Feb. 20 for her work in increasing gender equity.
