Lady ‘Eaters Fight Off Late Titan-ic Rally

With the Anteaters’ 13-point lead suddenly cut to four points with just under two minutes left to play in the game and momentum quickly favoring the Cal State Fullerton Titans, the UC Irvine Women’s Basketball team found themselves in desperate need of some veteran leadership to help secure the victory Saturday night at the Bren.
While the Anteaters did hold on for a 73-66 win over the Titans, it was mostly because of the big plays from their new and unfazed frontcourt of freshman forward Kelly Cochran and sophomore forward Stephanie Duda, both of whom dominated the final minute of the game.
Duda scored on a turnaround bank shot to give the Anteaters a 67-61 lead with 1:43 left. The Titans then raced down the court and got an open three-pointer from junior guard Andrea Adams to cut the Anteater lead to 67-64. Duda again responded on the other end of the court by muscling her way into the post and scoring on an up-and-under basket for a 69-64 Anteater advantage. Cochran then grabbed the defensive rebound
