UC Irvine’s top-20-ranked drama department continues to build their stock this fall with the introduction of the masters of fine arts program in sound design, headed by Michael K. Hooker, a veteran professional in the field who has also set up similar programs in other top universities around the country.
Hooker holds a masters degree from the California Institute of the Arts and an interdisciplinary bachelor’s degree in music, art and theater from the University of Arizona and has worked for Walt Disney Imagineering for the past seven years developing sound design at five of the 11 parks around the world in such places as Tokyo, Paris and Hong Kong.
