East Village Opera Company Rocks the Barclay

Rock opera: an oxymoronic genre of music? Arranger and multi-instrumentalist Peter Keisewalter doesn’t agree: ‘Rock and opera aren’t so different; both are big, unsubtle, massive and pompous.’
The Barclay Theatre audience listened to this fusion of modern and old-world pomposity on Sunday, Nov. 5. The East Village Opera Company re-imagines classical arias with the help of an electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, a string trio and two vocalists.
