All the cars were driving at a constant caution-kids-at-play speed, but red rubber balls were not rolling onto the 405 freeway where the 55 and the 73 freeways merged. Red brake lights appeared and vehicles slowed down to 30 miles per hour while driving by Bristol Street.
The seven lanes of traffic congestion, minus the carpool lane, continued for two miles uphill and to the horizon. All one could see was cement, freeway signs and cars. There were no people. Each person was hidden behind an image of freeway transportation
