UCI Should Implement Cage-Free Eggs

The issue of whether to implement a policy for cage-free eggs is prevalent at UC Irvine. During the dedication of Aldrich Hall on May 22, a number of faculty, staff and students conducted a silent protest against UCI’s current use of eggs from caged hens. In addition, approximately 3,500 signatures have been obtained from members of the campus community approving the use of cage-free eggs. The New University feels that a cage-free eggs approach should be implemented throughout UCI’s dining facilities.
The United States has nearly 300 million hens that are confined in wire ‘battery cages’
