In the third week of October, students on 114 college campuses held ‘Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week,’ a series of events designed to name the enemy in the so-called ‘War on Terror’ and to highlight the oppression of Muslim women by Islamo-Fascists in the Muslim world. The campus left responded not with an intellectual argument, but with a hate campaign that labeled everyone participating in our events as ‘racists,’ ‘religious bigots’ and ‘Islamo-phobes.’
This is how the left always responds to those who challenge its orthodoxies. If you disagree with them on any issue, whether it is racial preferences or the war in Iraq or Hurricane Katrina, you will be called a ‘racist,’ a ‘sexist’ or an ‘Islamo-phobe.’ It is the left’s strategy for removing its opponents from the debate and suppressing their speech.
