Independent Task Force Alleges Anti-Semitism at UCI

According to a recent study conducted by an unnamed independent community task force, the Muslim Student Union at UC Irvine endorses hate speech, and the UCI administration as well as Jewish organizations need to do more to prevent the spread of such hate speech.
The study was compiled from over 80 hours of interviews with students, faculty and Irvine community members. Although the task force attempted to contact both the spokeswoman and the president of the Muslim Student Union, it was unsuccessful in receiving a comment from the group. Similarly, UCI Chancellor Michael Drake declined to participate in the study, stressing that anti-Semitism was found not to be a problem at UCI by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

Reader’s Digest Gives UC Irvine ‘C’ in Safety Preparedness

A survey published in the March 2007 issue of Reader’s Digest, ranking American colleges for safety-preparedness and security, ranks UC Irvine as 130 out of 135 campuses, and gives UCI a ‘C’ grade for safety.
