Do my shoes match my WMDS? Crazed by the dearth of donuts and the massive numbers of man-purses at the Gap, part-time fashion vigilante and full-time CNN senior political analyst Jeff Greenfield compared Barack Obama’s ‘casual’ clothing to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s ‘jacket-and-no-tie look’ on the Dec. 11 edition of ‘The Situation Room.’
‘Now, it’s one thing to have a last name that sounds like Osama and a middle name, Hussein, that is probably less than helpful,’ Greenfield said. ‘But an outfit that reminds people of a charter member of the Axis of Evil? Why, this could leave his presidential hopes hanging by a thread. Or is that threads?’
Like ‘just-joker’ Greenfield, some conservative bloggers are a thread short of a Thomas Pink pullover. The hot new evidence of Obama’s Axis-of-Evilness is a photograph of the senator in Somali clothing on a 2006 trip to Kenya, which was supposedly circulated to the Drudge Report by ‘stressed’ staffers on the Hillary Clinton campaign. Because nothing says ‘al-Qaeda plot’ like ‘cross-cultural contact.’
