Men’s Basketball Has Rough Week, Losing to Pacific and Nevada
Last week was unkind to the UC Irvine men’s basketball team. On Feb. 16, the Anteaters lost at Pacific 75-51.
Senior guard Darren Moore led the way with 22 points and five rebounds in 33 minutes.
Off the bench, freshman Chris McNealy was a bright spot, scoring nine points and securing three rebounds in 18 minutes.
On their way to Reno, Nev. last week, the Anteaters ran into some harsh weather and spent several hours battling a snow storm.
In the team’s Feb. 19 matchup against the University of Nevada, UCI lost 74-63. Irvine is now 11-17 on the season with three regular season games remaining.
Senior guard Patrick Rembert scored 13 points and dished out four assists against the Wolfpack. Moore was held to a season-low four points.
Sophomore Mike Wilder scored nine points and had a team-high five rebounds in the team’s seventh loss in eight games.
Women’s Golf Finishes 13th at Palos Verdes Tournament
The Anteaters finished 13th at the Northrup Grumann Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club on Feb. 16.
Sophomore Michelle Park led the team with her 48th place finish, after rounds of 79, 75 and 83. UCI will compete next at the Julie Inkster Spartan Invitational on Feb. 28 at Almaden Country Club in San Jose.
