Women’s Basketball goes 2-1 at Oregon Tournament

UC Irvine’s women basketball team (2-5) spent their Thankgiving break at Eugene, Oregon as they  entered the Oregon Tournament in search of their first win.  UCI got what they came for as they dominated Nicholls State 62-48 on Nov. 24.

The following day, the Anteaters took a bitter defeat to undefeated Oregon, losing 89-77. Senior Kassandra MacCalister scored a career-high 29 points against Oregon, going 8-16 from the floor and 9-10 from the free throw line.

The Anteaters earned their second win of the season after beating the winless Weber State to a close 57-54 victory. UCI took a giant 18-point lead with 8:48 left in the second half, but Weber State went on a 14-3 run to close the gap to 57-50. Weber State only trailed by three points with 1:27 left, but they came up short on a three-pointer to lose the game.
