Volleyball Sweeps on the Road
Junior Kevin Tillie carried the Irvine offense in two major victories with 41 kills total, including a career-high 22 kills against Stanford. UCI dominated University of the Pacific on March 2 at the Alex G. Spanos Center 3-1. After Pacific edged out UCI with a 27-25 win in the second set to tie the match, the Anteaters came back in two sets for the win.
UCI defeated Stanford in similar fashion on March 3 at Maples Pavilion with a 3-1 victory. The Anteaters broke a 1-1 tie with two straight set victories. UCI are now 10-3 in the MPSF and 14-3 overall.
UCI Baseball Even Series in Texas
UC Irvine’s baseball team left their weekend trip to Texas with a bittersweet taste, thrashing Lamar University 17-0 before losing to ranked No. 25 Baylor 4-2 and 6-1. They closed out their trip with a 4-1 victory over Lamar. The Anteaters currently hold a 6-5 record overall this season. They will return home to face Brigham Young University on March 8.
Men’s Track Finish Third
Senior Charles Jock bolted to a first place finish on March 3 at the All-UC Meet in the 1500 meter with a time of 3 minutes, 53.44 seconds while freshman Riley Martin followed at second.
