AFSCME Authorizes Stike Vote

Service and medical workers within the UC system have voted to authorize a strike after months of negotiation between the union representing the workers and UC administration.
The 8,300 service workers within the UC system voted to hold a strike against the University of California, after which over 13,000 Patient and Technical Care workers voted to hold a sympathy strike according to AFSCME 3299 (American Federation of State, County, and Municipality Employees), the union representing both parties in their negotiations with the University of California Office of the President.
The strike will take place at all UC campuses. The length and duration of the strike will be announced by AFSCME in the near future.
